The gallery featured more than 30 oil and acrylic paintings by Thai artists Neung, Anan, Wut, and Tee, who were present to discuss their works.
This talented quartet of up-and-coming artists use bold, vibrant images and, sometimes, provocative subject matter to express their individual interpretations of the theme. Coming from differing backgrounds, the artists discovered a common bond in wishing to express a new attitude through their work.
’At a defining moment in the cultural history of the Kingdom, the title of this gallery’s inaugural catalogue, ’Work, Rest and Play’, has a special meaning for us today, as we reflect upon concepts of personal and social freedom’, said Paul McCafferty, Gallery Spokesperson.
’We need artists to inspire us, to give us fresh visions of possibility. These artists, indeed all artists in Thailand, regardless of the medium in which they work, are crucial in helping all Thais reconstruct a sense of identity, purpose and hope in this new century’, he explained.
